BTS is one step closer to reuniting! Group member Jin has officially completed his time in the South Korean military.
After enlisting in December of 2022, the singer spent 18 months completing the mandatory service period and was discharged on June 12. He finished with the rank of sergeant.
Jin’s military discharge happened to line up with FESTA, the annual celebration marking the day BTS first debuted as a band (June 13th, 2013). To celebrate both occasions, Jin hosted an in-person celebration titled “Jin’s Greetings,” which welcomed 1,000 lucky fans who were selected via a lottery.

The company building for HYBE, which houses BIGHIT MUSIC, was decorated with signage reading “APOBANGPO,” an abbreviation for “ARMY Forever, Bangtan Forever.” RM, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook were all on site to welcome Jin home, and the group shared a photo of the reunion before the members returned to their respective duties.
While most of the bandmates have a full year remaining in their mandatory service windows, the next member slated for discharge is j-hope, who is set to complete his time in October 2024. In the meantime, Jung Kook released the song "Never Let Go" – recorded before his enlistment period began – as a gift to to the fans for this year’s BTS anniversary. Group leader RM also recently released a sophomore solo LP, Right Place Wrong Person.
