The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame performer nominees are in. 14 artists and groups have made the shortlist, and are up for induction this year.
Among the 14 in the running are returning nominees Oasis, Mariah Carey, the White Stripes, Soundgarden, Joy Division, and New Order. Outkast and Phish are part of the first-timers club. Cyndi Lauper, Bad Company, Billy Idol, the Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, and Maná complete the list of nominees.

The official inductees will be announced in late April, before a ceremony in the autumn. A handful of 2024 unpicked nominees did not make the shortlist this round: Sinéad O’Connor, Sade, and Eric B. & Rakim.
John Sykes, chair of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a press release, “These remarkable Nominees have each created their own musical style and attitude impacting generations of music lovers and contributing to the ever evolving sounds and continued growth of rock’n’roll.”
Only about 7 or 8 of the 14 acts will be selected for recognition this year. Ballots will be sent to more than 1,000 "rock experts" who will evaluate the candidates and vote on who should be inducted. There's also a Fan Vote, which music lovers can be a part of here. Artists or bands become eligible for nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording.
Last year, Cher, A Tribe Called Quest, Dave Matthews Band, Mary J. Blige, Ozzy Osbourne, Kool & the Gang, Peter Frampton, and Foreigner were chosen to be part of the Class of 2024.
