Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2023 Ceremony Set to Stream Live on Disney+

For the first time in history, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will air live for people to watch on TV...or rather, on a streaming service.

The 2023 event will broadcast live on Disney+, on Friday, November 3 from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center at 8pm ET. A two-hour edited special will then air on Monday, January 1, on ABC with performances and highlights.

In years past, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony would air on HBO weeks after the event. In 2022, the last year of HBO’s long-running contract with the Hall, the ceremony took place in Los Angeles on November 5. It was not available for viewing on HBO and HBO Max until an edited special premiered two weeks later, on November 19: actually a shorter gap than the three-week-or-greater delay of previous years. Real-time social media interest in recent years had made putting off the broadcast seem increasingly archaic – hence, Disney+'s solution for a live broadcast.

This year, Elton John, St. Vincent, Brandi Carlile, Dave Matthews, H.E.R., Chris Stapleton, and New Edition have been announced as special guest performers. 2023's Rock Hall inductees are Kate Bush, Missy Elliott, Rage Against the Machine, Sheryl Crow, George Michael, Willie Nelson, and the Spinners. Other inductees in special categories include DJ Kool Herc, Chaka Khan, Link Wray, Al Kooper, Bernie Taupin, and Don Cornelius. Elliott, Crowe, Nelson, and Khan have been confirmed to perform at the ceremony.
