It's exactly one month to the day until Taking Back Sunday release their first new album in seven years, 152. To mark the occasion, the band has dropped a single called "Amphetamine Smiles."
It's an enormous, arena-sized emo power ballad of sorts. "You better save yourself before you try and save somebody else," Adam Lazzara croons just before a drum beat bangs in.

"You could document the writing, arranging, and recording of "Amphetamine Smiles", but there's no way to explain how it came together," explains guitarist John Nolan. "It's the product of some kind of magic." In a recent Kerrang! cover story, Adam Lazzara mused on the album's identity, and how it helped the band understand themselves.
“For us, it’s a bit of a reintroduction,” he said. “For a long time it felt like we were trying to get invited into other people’s worlds. But with this [album], we realised that we’d built this incredible thing, so this is more of an invitation into our world...Without the people who’ve been with us on this journey, none of this would have been possible,” he added. “To them we’re saying, ‘Come on over, guys – we’ve made some dinner, you’re gonna love it!”
"Amphetamine Smiles" also comes with a new music video set to be released today (September 27). Watch it below.
