The BIPOC Spotlights: A Bowl of Soul

As part of "The BIPOC Spotlights," Live365 is shining a spotlight on A Bowl of Soul A Mixed Stew of Soul Music! Professor T-Love shared the station's story as well as some music recommendations with us. Check out their story below!

How did you get started with your station?

I love music and always envisioned myself having my own radio station. I wanted to get my voice out there, so I created my show called "A Bowl of Soul A Mixed Stew of Soul Music." I developed this concept 11 years ago. I grew up listening to Black radio here in NYC and I wanted to recreate that with my station. A Bowl of Soul gives a history of R&B from the past to the present. I want people to know about the producers, songwriters, musicians, singers, and R&B labels that produce this genre of music and how they continue to do so in the present. I showcase new independent R&B artists as well. I include all elements, such as jazz, hip hop, house, blues, Latin boogaloo, and gospel, that are in R&B music. Also, I aim to show how R&B has influenced rock and roll.

What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?

Listeners will hear classic soul and new R&B as well as my one-hour show called "A Bowl of Soul A Mixed Stew of Soul Music" and a talk show called "Love, Sex and Relationships with the Professor and Professor T-Love."
