Thundercat’s 'Apocalypse' to Receive 10th Anniversary Reissue

Master bassist Thundercat has come a long way, and now his sophomore album, Apocalypse, is heading towards its 10th anniversary. Stephen Lee Bruner is commemorating the event with a deluxe reissue, titled Apocalypse 10-Year Edition.

The new version of the album is due on March 1st, 2024. Produced by Flying Lotus, the original Apocalypse featured 12 tracks. The reissue will arrive with two previously-unheard bonus tracks. There's one hilariously titled “Before I loved myself ‘I’ pooped my ankles (true)” that features Taylor Graves and Thundercat’s late collaborator, Austin Peralta. The second bonus track is called “Paris,” and it features Mono/Poly.

Thundercat also reissued his debut The Golden Age of Apocalypse for its 10th anniversary in 2021. When the new version of Apocalypse arrives in March, it will be available on a deluxe, colored vinyl with “special rainbow holographic artwork.” You can pre-order your copy here.

Earlier this year, Thundercat performed at the 2023 Newport Jazz Festival, tapped Tame Impala for a new song, “No More Lies,” and did a good bit of touring. This past September, he shared a song made with mouthwash sounds as part of a Listerine campaign supporting a non-profit that creates more opportunities for diversity in dentistry. He'll continue touring next year, and will head to Europe for a handful of dates in March and April. You can buy tickets here.
