Live365's "Featured Spotlight Station" this week is WXAX! We spoke with Jim Arndt about the station's setup, what listeners can expect to hear, and some of some of the station's best hits. Check out the interview below!
What brought you to Live365?
The platform provided me with a good opportunity to do what I want and get people into the type of music I like.
What's your studio like?
Basic Dell laptop, Behringer mixer, headphones, and mic. Small but good enough for a one man operation in the limited space I have.
What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?
Rockin' retro hits from the '70s up to and including the early MTV years. Rock, disco, R&B, and big on one hit wonders.
What has been your favorite moment as a DJ/Station Manager so far?
Getting the acknowledgement from listeners digging what I'm playing and seeing repeat listeners from around the world has been great.
What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?
Any Ted Nugent show. I've seen him numerous times in a small club setting, and for his age he puts up more effort and energy than people a third of his age!
We asked Jim for some of his favorite songs. Here's what he had to say!
There are too many to name just a few, but here are some favorites:
- Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin. The vocals speak for themselves.
- Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. Anything Freddie did was top notch.
- Anything Kiss from 1975-1979. Editor's note: I pulled up Kiss's Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their biggest hit was Beth/Detroit Rock City, which peaked at #7 on Dec. 4, 1976.
