We're winding down to the end of 2023. We've got one more month until a snowstorm of holiday releases blow in. Until then, November 2023 sees significant album drops in the worlds of pop, rap, and country.
It's a mix of different kinds of musicians sharing their music this month. We've got some revered legends, newcomers, artists who have recently gone solo after spending years with a group, and even a notable posthumous release.

1. Equal Strain on All Parts - Jimmy Buffett
The world was rocked by Jimmy Buffett's passing back in September. Fortunately, the hardworking tropical troubadour managed to leave behind one last album for us before he sailed away. It's called Equal Strain on All Parts and was released on November 3.
The release of this project ensures Buffett will end his musical career with 32 albums to his name. Even with his diagnosis of Merkel cell carcinoma, Buffett worked on recording the new album up through 2023, and completed it prior to his death. The title of the album comes from a saying his grandfather would use to describe "a good nap." Two notable singles from this album prior to its release are "My Gummie Just Kicked In" (based on a real-life cannabis edible experience Buffett had with a friend) and the reflective ballad "Bubbles Up."
2. Golden - Jungkook
The K-pop world is not ready for Jungkook's album Golden. The BTS member dropped his project on November 3, and it's the singer's debut as a solo artist.
The album was preceded by two singles: "Seven" featuring Latto and "3D" featuring Jack Harlow. "Seven" in particular fared very well on music charts, reaching the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. It also cracked into the top 10 in numerous other countries. In promotion of Golden, Jungkook is set to deliver special stage performances and make various appearances alongside the release.
3. Blanket - Kevin Abstract
Kevin Abstract's first solo album since departing his boy band, BROCKHAMPTON! Blanket is another record that dropped November 3, and is said to be inspired by acts such as Sunny Day Real Estate, Nirvana, and Modest Mouse. With all the cryptic teaser trailers Kevin has shared in regards to this album, we've been extremely curious for this release.
Abstract made Blanket over the course of three months with his longtime producer/collaborator Romil Hemnani and multi-instrumentalist Jonah Abraham. Judging from the title track, we won't be surprised if this project has more of an indie rock feel. It's a bold change from the mostly R&B/hip-hop songs Kevin has put out in the past. But that's what we love about Abstract: he's a renaissance man who's unafraid to push his own boundaries.
4. Sugar Papi - Marshmello
This is the last LP on our list that was released November 3. Sugar Papi is Marshmello's debut Latin album, and we're excited to see what the sweet masked electronic DJ brings to the campfire.
The songs on Sugar Papi have already been performing well. Marshmello scored a #1 single on the Latin Airplay chart for his unexpected hit with Manuel Turizo, “El Merengue." Not to mention Christopher Comstock has gained even more attention with his new tracks "Tempo," "Como Yo," and "HARLEY QUINN." Sugar Papi is Marshmello's first album to feature an artist on every tune, and we can't wait to boogie more to the variety of sonic treats he gifted us!
5. Higher - Chris Stapleton
Higher is the upcoming fifth studio album by American country musician Chris Stapleton, scheduled to be released through Mercury Nashville on November 10. The album was produced by Dave Cobb, Stapleton, and his wife Morgane. Morgane also does backing vocals, synthesizer, and tambourine. Higher was preceded by the lead single "White Horse."
There are a lot of country albums scheduled for release this November (several of which we haven't been able to fit on our list), but Higher is one we're particularly eager to listen to. "White Horse" as a single is one of the most phenomenal country rock songs we've heard in a long time. Stapleton's vocals shimmer, the guitar riffs are glorious, and the track has such an attractive, raw, moody, and dark feel. Higher promises to span different sounds and genres within its 14 tracks. We really hope this one appeals to more than just die-hard country fans.
6. The First Time - The Kid LAROI
After several hit songs, The Kid LAROI is finally putting out his debut studio album! Fittingly, it's called The First Time. To drum up excitement for the record, the Australian singer has released singles such as “I Can’t Go Back To The Way It Was (Intro),” “Love Again,” “Kids Are Growing Up (Part 1),” “I Guess It’s Love,” and “Where Does Your Spirit Go?”
The First Time is due out November 10. However, we are keeping our fingers and toes crossed, because this project has been delayed SEVERAL times. We think The Kid LAROI is fairly serious about this most recent release date, though. He's put out a trailer and everything stating the drop will happen on November 10. So we'll keep our eyes and ears open!
7. Heaven Knows - PinkPantheress
Speaking of debut albums coming out November 10, PinkPantheress is also putting out her first studio effort that day! Heaven Knows follows the UK artist's acclaimed 2021 mixtape To Hell with It and will include the singles "Boy's a Liar Pt. 2" with Ice Spice, "Mosquito," and "Capable of Love."
Besides Ice Spice, Heaven Knows is set to include collaborations with Greg Kurstin, Mura Masa, Danny L Harle, Count Baldor, Phil, and Cash Cobain. The LP is an accumulation of music PinkPantheress has created over the last two years, and will explore themes like relationships, loneliness, and inner peace. Heaven knows how much we'll probably be replaying this LP.
8. Welcome 2 Collegrove - 2 Chainz & Lil Wayne
Two members of hip-hop royalty have joined forces to deliver us an album on November 17. 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne's collaborative project is called Welcome 2 Collegrove, and it is the sequel to 2 Chainz' third studio album ColleGrove (2016). That record was originally planned to be a Lil Wayne duet album; he could not be co-credited due to label issues.
Some other cool details about this gargantuan rap release? Benny the Butcher is confirmed to have a feature somewhere on the album. The word "Collegrove" is a combination of 2 Chainz' and Lil Wayne's hometowns. (2 Chainz is from College Park, Georgia, while Wayne hails from Hollygrove, New Orleans.) Finally, the album was originally set to release on the same day as Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday 2; however, Minaj later pushed that album's release date further back to December 8, partly because of this album's release.
9. Rockstar - Dolly Parton
Parton was nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022 and initially declined the honor, as she has a background in country music and not rock. In response, she declared her intention to record an album of rock covers with a host of musical guests from the genre to justify her inclusion. Thus, Rockstar has been born, and it will be released to the public on November 17.
Are you ready to hear Dolly's cover of "Let It Be" featuring surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr? Or perhaps her version of "What's Up?" featuring Linda Perry? Besides those two monster drops, Dolly has shared the singles "World on Fire," "Magic Man" featuring Ann Wilson, "Bygones" featuring Rob Halford and Nikki Sixx and John 5, and Queen's "We Are the Champions"/"We Will Rock You." We can't wait to hear the rest of her foray into rock 'n' roll!
10 Hiroquest: Double Helix - Steve Aoki
Legendary DJ Steve Aoki is back! His latest album Hiroquest: Double Helix is out November 17 and promises to embrace current dance culture while interweaving the beauty of contemporary Latin music.
This album is teeming with collabs. Hiroquest: Double Helix will notably feature Paris Hilton, Akon, Galantis, Angela Aguilar, Danna Paola, Greeicy, JJ Lin, Hayley Kiyoko, Timmy Trumpet, and John Martin. The album builds upon the concept of Hiroquest: Genesis and the world the DJ built himself: a world that “embraces a sense of nostalgia for the early days of Aoki’s career while also pushing dance music into the future.”
