Center Stage on Live365: Adam On The Air

Center Stage on Live365 this week is Adam On The Air - "HOLIDAY MUSIC...ANYTIME. ANYWHERE." We spoke with station manager Adam Heter about their history with radio, their station's programming, and we got some music recommendations. Check out the interview below!

What made you get started in radio?

I was on terrestrial radio in 2006, and was recently hired at another station for 2022. I have always been a fan of the medium.

What brought you to Live365?

The helpfulness of the staff. Rich was great in giving me the information, and then Austin was super helpful with tips and tricks with getting started. Feels like everyone here is a family, and wants everyone to succeed.

What's your favorite part about running your own radio station?

Being my own boss and playing music I feel will help make people’s day a little brighter and cheerier.

Tell us about your station's programming. What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?

A variety of holiday music, all commercial free. I wanted to do commercial free so people could play it all day and night with no interruption. There will also be weather updates at the top of the hour and jingles throughout to keep it light and fun. I have John Davidson from That’s Incredible and Hollywood Squares as my official announcer. He did the voiceover work for me last year for the station.

Name one artist that you play on your station that is underrated in your opinion.

Jon McLaughlin - "Merry, Merry Christmas Everyone"

What's your favorite music memory/moment?

Being able to listen to when New York’s WPLJ signed off the air. That was the station I grew up listening to. My dad and I would listen to it, and now that he passed away this year I want to make a station that would sound similar to what I grew up listening to.

Please list your top 5 or 10 songs, with a brief reason why each song made your list.

No particular order but wow, this was hard. I like so many Christmas songs…

  1. "Wonderful Christmastime" - Paul McCartney
This is my all-time favorite Christmas song.

  2. "The Chanukah Song" - Adam Sandler
    Always gives a good laugh.

  3. "Yabba-Dabba Yuletide" - The Brian Setzer Orchestra
Fun with a lot of energy, reminds me of my father.

  4. "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" - The Pretenders
Very simple but beautifully done. A true gem that’s underrated, for sure.

  5. "The Little Drummer Boy (Peace On Earth)" - Bing Crosby and David Bowie
Two legends, two songs, one terrific arrangement. Christmas isn’t Christmas without Bing Crosby. It’s a combination of old and new, and it’s a classic.

  6. "Merry Christmas Darling" - The Carpenters
Beautiful song. Not much more that can be said. Perfect composition for the holiday season!

  7. "Christmas Is The Time To Say 'I Love You'" - Billy Squier
Lots of energy and a song I grew up with.

  8. "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" - Elmo & Patsy
A guilty favorite. I can remember when I first heard the song, being next to my grandparents.

  9. "Winter Wonderland" - The Eurythmics
A new twist on a classic. Annie Lennox is another underrated singer.

  10. "Jingle Bell Rock (Daryl's Version)" - Daryl Hall and John Oates
My favorite group, so I had to include them. I just realized only last year that there is a John Oates version, as well. Very cool. A fun little song that gets you in the mood for the holiday season!
