Elvis Presley's Granddaughter Fights Proposed Graceland Sale

You may have heard recently that Graceland, Elvis Presley's famous estate-turned-tourist attraction in Memphis, is up for sale. However, it's possible the sale could be halted thanks to the actions of actress Riley Keough: Presley's granddaughter.

Keough is attempting to stop the proposed sale of Graceland in Tennessee, as she inherited the mansion and much of Presley's estate after her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, died last year. However, a company is claiming the property is collateral in a $3.8m loan that was taken out by Lisa Marie but never paid back. Keough alleges the paperwork on the loan is fraudulent and her mother's signature was forged.

Additionally, Keough claims the notary listed on the deed of trust – allegedly notarized in Duval County, Florida – says she never met Lisa Marie Presley and didn't notarize any document.

A planned auction of the estate was set to happen this Thursday, May 23. However, the Daisy Jones & the Six actress filed a legal action to stop it from taking place. Now, a hearing is scheduled to happen today (May 22), according to court documents.

Naussany Investments has not responded to various requests for comments. Kurt Naussany, named as a defendant because the suit claims he represented Naussany Investments, said by email that he left the firm in 2015 and should not be named in the filing.

Elvis Presley Enterprises, which runs Graceland and the assets of the Elvis Presley Trust, alleges the loan never took place and that Lisa Marie never gave her signature.

Priscilla Presley has also commented on the news of Graceland's foreclosure. On her Instagram, the former wife of Elvis posted a short video clip showing a photo of Graceland, and the words "It's a Scam!" popping up over dramatic music.

Elvis Presley bought Graceland Mansion in 1957 and lived there until he died in 1977. Five years later, it was opened to the public as a music history theme park. Today it attracts roughly 600,000 visitors a year, according to the venue.
