Eminem Tricks Fans with April Fools’ Day Album Announcement

Slim Shady got us good. Eminem, taking a page from Trent Reznor, trolled fans hoping for a new album by releasing a faux trailer for Infinite 2 on April Fools’ Day.

The video opens with screenshots of social media pleas from fans asking for a new Eminem album. Cue some 1996-era graphics and a cheesy movie narrator, who announces: “The highly-anticipated next studio album goes back to where it all started. Infinite but now it’s even more infinite. Out today!” The trailer is soundtracked by Eminem’s “Crack a Bottle.”

Although the video was an obvious April Fools’ joke, several Eminem fans admitted they believed the trailer, running to streaming services just to find nothing newly released.

Fortunately for Eminem fans, a new and very real album is on the horizon. Dr. Dre recently revealed the news while on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in March. “Eminem is working on his own album, which is coming out this year,” said Dre. “I actually talked to him and he said it was okay for me to make that announcement right here on this show. So he has an album coming out, I’ve got songs on it and it’s fire.”
