Featured Spotlight Station: Plumtree Radio

Live365's first ever "Featured Spotlight Station" is Plumtree Radio! We got a chance to interview DJ Philouis, and here's what he had to say.

What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?
They can hear some of the greatest tunes from Northwest and national Top 40 charts that aren't heard anywhere else! These are the original songs from the pop and country stations from the late '50s to the early '80s, with added emphasis on the '60s and '70s.

I keep adding to the huge playlist as I find the songs on oldies records and in CD bins. Some of the songs never went anywhere nationally, but were big hits locally and regionally. I run the longer album versions of the music whenever possible, even if they're 20 minutes long!

I also feature "Comedy Corner" to showcase novelty songs and comedy bits (all while trying to keep it PG-13 rated)! These are some hilarious bits from some great comedians.

What brought you to Live365?
I have been with Live365 since 1999! I've always wanted to start my own radio station, and in fact had several pirate stations in the mid-60s and then made broadcasting my career!

What's your studio like?
The software chain is unique and free! I use an old hand me down HP laptop for the server, which is loaded with RadioDJ, AltaCast plugin, and TAL-Reverb-2 plugin, which emulates the "plate reverb" sound which was prevalent on AM Top 40 stations in the '60s and '70s. We will be upgrading to a desktop CPU in the near future which will greatly improve the audio processing with the addition of "Stereo Tool" and proper microphone mixing which will allow for better "LIVE" shows!

What has been your favorite moment as a DJ so far?
Being able to go "LIVE" and create some funny comedy bits on the fly! Going live now is kind of "Mickey Mouse," as I do not have the equipment set up to do it correctly. But, I will be setting up the proper mixer and a new server to "do it right"!

What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?
By far, The Moody Blues! The acoustics were incredible! This was at the peak of there career back in 1971!
