Live365's "Featured Spotlight Station" this week is 562 LIVE! We spoke with the station about their setup, what listeners can expect to hear, and the station's favorite songs. Check out the interview below!
What brought you to Live365?
After working with several radio stations, I was disenchanted with how traditional AM/FM stations are run. I knew there was a better way to have a great music station without all the hassle and drama that comes with corporate and non-profit stations. Live365 gave us a way to create a BETTER station with less overhead, and a more modern and robust business model. We are able to play less commercials than traditional stations, with a wider variety of music. While other radio stations have fewer than 500 songs, we have a playlist of over 2,000 songs!
Also, the fact that music licensing is taken care of is HUGE. We have used other platforms that make staying compliant and submitting data of playlists a major pain. We were spending more time worrying about the licensing than creating great playlists. Live365 takes this pain away and allows us to run our station.
What's your studio like?
I use Virtual DJ or Mixxx and Rocket Broadcaster to stream live. In the studio, I have a Blue Spark Microphone and Behringer X1204 Mixer. I also have a pair of Sony MDR-7506 Headphones sent to me by a listener!
What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?
Listeners can expect urban hits! We play hip-hop, R&B, as well as old school at 12 noon daily, and reggae and dancehall all day Sundays.
What has been your favorite moment as a DJ/Station Manager so far?
Seeing listeners coming in from around the globe is the best part! It is amazing how music is universally loved around the world.
What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?
Olivia Newton John. It was my first concert ever and I had a huge crush on her after seeing GREASE as a child!
What artist (dead or alive) would you love to see live, but haven't had the chance to see?
PRINCE. I never had a chance to see him perform live before he died.
