Live365's "Featured Spotlight Station" this week is Collage Travel Radio! We spoke with Jay Lawrence about their setup, what listeners can expect to hear, and the station's favorite songs. Check out the interview below!
What brought you to Live365?
We used Live365 several years ago and we came back because they offer good insights on how to create a radio station.
What's your studio like?
We have a broadcast studio. After years of using basic mixers and USB-C mics, we have invested in a RODECaster Pro Mixer and four of the Rode Podcaster Mics. For many years, we used Cool Edit for recording, but we moved up with Adobe Audition. The station started solely on Live365, but we began using StationPlaylist for the daily operation of the station.
What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?
Created because of a void between travel trade magazines and mainline media, Collage Travel Radio is a unique broadcast venue combining music and travel information to engage not only the travel advisors, but capture the future traveler.
Collage Travel Radio is the brainchild of Larry King and Belinda Zimmerman. With a combined 45 years of experience in both broadcasting and travel, they found a hole that needed to be filled, which is where Collage Travel Radio was born.
What has been your favorite moment as a DJ/Station Manager so far?
It's fantastic to get responses from people about your station.
What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?
Andrae Crouch & The Disciples. They are a Christian artist from the 1970s. Great involvement, great music, and inspirational!
What artist (dead or alive) would you love to see live, but haven't had the chance to?
This is a funny question because I have had the chance to see Elvis, the Beatles, and Neil Diamond, but I passed on all three. So, I would like to take all of that back and actually see them!
