Featured Spotlight Station: Eagle Online Radio

Live365's "Featured Spotlight Station" this week is Eagle Online Radio! We spoke with Hollywood John Harlow about their setup, what listeners can expect to hear, and the station's favorite songs. Check out the interview below!

What brought you to Live365?

I was looking for a place with a solid stream and the ability to pay royalties. Live365 has been the solution.

What's your studio like?

I have a AKG microphone, two boards, a Xenyx 1832 feeding into the Alesis iMultiMix8 USB feeding into my Windows 10 laptop. All of our DJs have their own setups.

What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?

Professional DJs, great music, and the "Oh Wow" factor. We play the greatest hits of the 80s and 90s, and 10 songs in a row every hour. I will put my DJs up against most commercial stations.

What has been your favorite moment as a DJ/Station Manager so far?

Working with my team is absolutely the best part. Everyone loves radio. I have worked on-air all around the world with the Armed Forces Network. Chad Bender, our midday DJ, worked with me at WPRR in Altoona. Tank Sherman, our afternoon guy, was who I wanted to be like growing up when I listened to him at B-94 in Pittsburgh. Melissa Foxx, our night DJ, is the busiest person I know, between producing a morning show in Orlando, doing her own podcast, and doing appearances, she is everywhere all the time. John Black, our overnight DJ, is the guy who pushed me to do this. He believed in my talent as a jock and programmer. Our weekend talent just keeps getting better. Lizzie Steele does weekend mornings and does the "Connections" podcast with Melissa, Rob Ruffin, and I. We also worked together at the Armed Forces Network Europe and Korea. AJ Meyer and I worked together at the Revolution in State College, PA, and Dan Romero is a talented guy who I worked with at Hot 106 in Gainesville, FL and is just amazing because he is visually impaired and sounds incredible.

It is truly an honor to work with this much talent and right now, everyone is doing it because of their love of radio.

What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?

Tailgate 97 in Gainesville, FL. It was after the Florida - Tennessee game and it was Sister Hazel and Cowboy Mouth. That week, Sister Hazel's album Somewhere More Familiar went gold and Universal Records got us the gold record and we presented it to them in their hometown. Best concert and one of the best moments in my career.

What artist (dead or alive) would you love to see live, but haven't had the chance to see?

Prince

We asked for some of the station's favorite songs. Here's what they had to say!

My top 5 all have meaning to me:

  1. Change Your Mind - Sister Hazel
There have been many ups and downs in my life, and as they say, "If you want to be somebody else, change your mind."
  2. Champagne High - Sister Hazel
The first time they played the song on air was when I interviewed them to promote Tailgate 97. Sounds so good with just two microphones and 2 guitars.
  3. I Can Only Imagine - MercyMe
My mom passed away in 2012 and she loved the Lord and every time I hear it, I think of my mom.
  4. Over You - Cassadee Pope
After returning from my mom's funeral, my family sat down to catch up on The Voice and this had me balling my eyes out and still does. I'm not tearing up as I type this, you are.
  5. Say Goodbye To Hollywood - Billy Joel
When I was getting out of the Army and did my last show on the Armed Forces Korea Network, it was the last song I played. I loved being able to entertain our Soldiers.
