Featured Spotlight Station: the Fire

Live365's "Featured Spotlight Station" this week is the Fire! We spoke with Pastor Mark about their setup, what listeners can expect to hear, and the station's favorite songs. Check out the interview below!

What brought you to Live365?

Live365 was very attractive in handling the entire package in tiers that were manageable, while also caring about the quality of the product.

What's your studio like?

I just started out in my spare time and weekends, using mostly my laptop and Live365 for now. (I love the AutoDJ feature!) I have more equipment, but for now, I can't really justify using it at this time. I record, load, and schedule my programming and Live365 works!

What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?

They can expect a very unique mix of Christian music: Black gospel, gospel funk, Christian rock, Christian blues rock, gospel blues, etc. Also, we have one-and-a-half minute to six-and-a-half minute devotionals at the top of every hour. Special weekend programming includes "Worship With Andy Chrisman," "Christian Music Rewind," "The Rockdown with Dustin Tatro," "Behind The Tunes," as well as "The Gospel Blues Hour." Weekday programming includes "Vision of Grace."

What has been your favorite moment as a DJ/Station Manager so far?

Although a very devastating period, our listenership went up when the pandemic really started hitting hard. Ultimately, I knew more people were not looking for just a radio station, they were seeking hope and peace in Jesus Christ. That's why we are here.

What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?

I've been to a lot of great concerts, both Christian and mainstream (and even played in a few)! I would probably go with the first time I saw Mike Farris. Great voice, singing great songs with a stellar band to back him up: Reese Wynans on keys, Bart Walker on guitar, Delbert McClinton's horn section, and top notch drums and bass, with the McCrary Sisters on backing vocals! Awesome!

What artist (dead or alive) would you love to see live, but haven't had the chance to see?

Stevie Ray Vaughan, never got to see him live in concert.

We asked for some of the station's favorite songs. Here's what they had to say!

  • I Am Here - Barry Loupe
An absolute favorite for many reasons. Brings back great memories for me, but mostly because Barry writes gracefully and sincerely from the heart. Great stuff.

  • Separate Us - Josh Gilbert

  • God's Been Good To Me - Mighty Walker Brothers
I actually made this one of my ringtones, which was a bad idea because I won't answer calls sometimes because I just want to listen to this song play! This song's lyrics ring true throughout my life along with that perfectly matching sound!

  • I'm Satisfied With Jesus - Luther Barnes & The Sunset Jubilaires

  • Power - Al Green

  • Hold Me Jesus - Rich Mullins
Fresh and honest music still to this day.

  • Empty Me Out - Liz Vice

  • I'm Just a Nobody - The Williams Brothers

  • He's Somethin' Else - Soul Sandwich

  • Going Home - Sean Costello
