Featured Spotlight Station: WERUradio

Live365's "Featured Spotlight Station" this week is WERUradio! We spoke with George Daigle about the station's setup, what listeners can expect to hear, and the station's favorite songs. Check out the interview below!

What brought you to Live365?

When looking at streaming options, Live365 was recommended the most overall. I love the fact that Live365 keeps us legal with our music licensing.

What's your studio like?

We use PLAYOUT One Studio Automation, Music 1 Scheduling software, Audio Technica ATHM50x, Shure SM7B microphone, Rode NT1-a Mic with Kaotica Eyeball, Dell XPS 8930, Mackie ProFX 8v2, and Rode Caster Pro.

What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?

WERUradio has created a platform that prominently features amazing artists from the LGBTQ community in heavy rotation. You'll hear B. Slade, Big Freedia, MNEK, Young M.A., and more. The uptempo flavors of R&B (Fantasia, Kelly Rowland, Usher), Hip Hop (Busta Rhymes, Trina, Missy Elliott), and House music (Quentin Harris, Martha Wash, Frankie Knuckles) combine to give you a unique musical taste when you tune in.

WERUradio also has a roster of dynamic on-air personalties who reflect the unique tone of the LGBTQ community. Our recurring shows include:

  • “The WE aRe U Morning Crew” Monday-Friday 6am-10am EST: Your hosts, Jana, Nova, Say & TJ, play the hottest music tracks alongside hilarious and insightful discussions on trending topics.

  • “Middays with Diamond” Monday-Friday 10am-2pm EST: The 1st Lady of WERUradio, Middays, delivers her radiant personality and distinctive voice while she plays the latest in R&B, Hip Hop, and House Music.

  • “Chit Chat with Miss Sophia” Monday-Friday 2pm-6pm EST: This award-winning comedian and drag superstar plays more of your favorite songs. Miss Sophia brings her outrageous oratory and bodacious personality to your afternoon when she discusses all the latest in celebrity news and gossip.

  • “Sibley Saturdays” Saturday 10am-2pm EST: Veteran performer Keith Sibley puts some pep in your weekend routine with back to back House Music and dance remixes of your favorite songs.

  • “The House of WERU” Sunday 9am-1pm EST: WERUradio shows its Spiritual side as George Daigle gives you words of motivation paired with continuous Inspirational House Music.

What has been your favorite moment as a DJ/Station Manager so far?

It was unbelievable to have our station wear the distinction of being an official media sponsor of Atlanta Black Gay Pride after being on air less than a year. It lets me know our team is doing the right thing at the right time.

What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?

Patti Labelle, and I even got a chance to sing with her!

What artist (dead or alive) would you love to see live, but haven't had the chance to see?

It's so hard to pick one! Rahsaan Patterson, Lalah Hathaway, Phyllis Hyman, Sylvester, and Whitney Houston

We asked for some of the station's favorite songs. Here's what they had to say!

  1. Nails, Hair, Lips, Heels - Todrick Hall
  2. Hide - Lyriq Tye
  3. Shout - Illyus & Barrientos
  4. Don't Stop Me Now - Martha Wash, Linda Clifford, and Norma Jean Wright
  5. Before I Let Go - Beyonce
  6. Queens Everywhere - RuPaul
  7. I'm In Love - Ball Greezy
