Frank Ocean Finally Releases Vinyl Edition of 'Channel Orange'

Six years ago, Frank Ocean said the vinyl version of Channel Orange would be coming “ASAP.” While it didn't happen quickly, the reclusive artist has kept true to his word. On June 26, the Channel Orange vinyl became available on Ocean’s Blonded.co website.

According to Pitchfork, the 2xLP package was listed for $69. The website listing also says: “Please allow 4-6 weeks for fulfillment.”

Unfortunately, for those looking to snag the vinyl - it sold out on Frank Ocean's website shortly after its release. It's not out of the ordinary, as Ocean has sold limited quantities of his subsequent albums, Endless and Blonde, in the past. The hard-to-come-by records have been slightly easier to attain in recent years due to reissues. There's no word yet if the Channel Orange vinyl will be restocked or receive a similar reissue. In any case, the sparse release has now made the LP one of the most sought-after physical records of the 2010s.

The acclaimed Channel Orange was originally released digitally and on CD back in 2012. It was thought a vinyl edition would soon follow. Ocean was even excited to grab a physical copy of his debut, telling Zane Lowe in an interview, “It’ll be a glorious day for me personally.” Instead, the Channel Orange vinyl never materialized (until now), and fans were left to sort through various unofficial and bootleg releases.

In other Frank Ocean news, the artist has been filming his directorial debut in Mexico City with Alien: Romulus and Industry star David Jonsson. He also teased some new music, published a photography book, and gave an infamous Coachella performance in 2023.
