Indie artist girl in red has released another gorgeous song about the month of October. This time, it's called "October Passed Me By" and it's a sequel to her 2018 hit song "we fell in love in october."
With the single, girl in red – aka Norwegian singer-songwriter Marie Ulven –has returned with her first new song of the year. She produced "October Passed Me By" with the National’s Aaron Dessner.
“I met Aaron Dessner in the fall of 2021. I told him I had this song that I had written and wanted to make but I hadn’t started recording it yet,” Ulven explained in a statement. “I had never worked with him, so for me it felt like an interesting and also lowkey thing to try out. I finished writing the song in Oslo and L.A., working remotely with Aaron and with my great friend Matias Tellez on mix.”
She continued, “‘October Passed Me By’ is where I’m at today, emotionally and musically. Grateful for what has been, and full of love for a very special person that made a huge impact on me as a person.”
Ulven released her debut girl in red album, If I Could Make It Go Quiet, in April 2021. There's no word yet if "October Passed Me By" will be part of a sophomore album, or if it's another standalone single like "we fell in love in october" was.
