Hayley Williams Drops New Song 'Showbiz'

Physical editions of Hayley Williams' latest solo album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, were rolled out last week (November 7). They include two songs that were not initially released on digital streaming platforms. The Paramore vocalist shared one of them, “Good Ol’ Days,” online last month, and now she’s released the other.

The new track is called "Showbiz" and comes with a visualizer that features a calm cityscape. The song was produced by co-writer Daniel James.

According to Genius, "Showbiz" was played for the first time during “Ego Nite” listening parties at record stores all over the world. It deals with Williams fantasizing about being with a lover (most likely her Paramore band member Taylor York), but having to cut through the showbiz atmosphere in order to get to him. "In the fog / In the flood beams / On a lark / In their midst / Our silhouettes kiss / Guess that's showbiz / Guess that's curtains / Was it just showbiz?" she croons in the song's chorus.

Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party is Hayley Williams' third solo studio album, and it's arguably been her most commercially successful solo LP to date. 2026 Grammy Award nominations were announced on November 7, and Williams managed to snag four: Best Alternative Music Album, Best Alternative Music Performance ("Parachute"), Best Rock Performance (“Mirtazapine”), and Best Rock Song ("Glum").

Williams won her first Grammy in 2015, for Best Rock Song (Paramore's “Ain’t It Fun"). She won two more with Paramore in 2024: Best Rock Album (This Is Why) and Alternative Music Performance (“This Is Why”). She has 11 career nominations.

Speaking of Paramore, the band is currently on a break after touring across the world for their sixth studio album. Given the content of Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party, many speculated that Williams and York had split, and the fate of the pop-punk group was unclear. However, Williams has publicly stated her relationship with York - and by extension, Paramore - is still going strong.
