Pictures have surfaced of Jennifer Lopez in a bedazzled wedding dress for the upcoming rom-com Marry Me, and now, the Bronx-born singer has shared “On My Way (Marry Me)”: the first track from the flick.
The uplifting piano ballad is about finding romance and will be part of the film’s official soundtrack, which will feature original songs by Lopez and co-star Maluma. The trailer for the film dropped Thursday (November 18) alongside the new track.
In the film, Lopez plays a pop superstar named Kat Valdez who finds out her famous fiancé, played by Maluma in his breakout movie role, is cheating on her just before they’re about to wed onstage in front of a massive audience. On a whim, Valdez picks a stranger from the crowd — a math teacher played by Owen Wilson — and decides to marry him instead. The film follows the pair as they get to know each other.
Marry Me marks Lopez's first big acting role since her critically-acclaimed performance in the 2019 film Hustlers. That movie earned Lopez a string of Best Supporting Actress nominations, including nods from the Golden Globes, Critics' Choice Movie Awards, Screen Actors Guild, and Independent Spirit Awards. After Marry Me, Lopez has been tapped to act in another upcoming film about matrimony: an action rom-com called Shotgun Wedding.
In other J-Lo news, the singer recently joined LL Cool J during his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction, where she sang their 2002 collaboration “All I Have.” She also headlined the 10th annual Global Citizen concert in an effort to fight against poverty back in September. The event raised over $1.1 billion in commitments and pledges.
Marry Me will be released February 14.
