It's October 6, and which canine-related musical project are you listening to today: Drake's For All the Dogs, or the latest project by Keanu Reeves' band Dogstar? That's right – the SoCal indie rock band has dropped their third studio album Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees. It's their first studio effort since 2000’s Happy Ending, and marks their return in over 20 years.

The new album features the previously released singles “Everything Turns Around,” “Breach,” and “Glimmer.” Reeves returns to bass, alongside guitarist/vocalist Bret Domrose and drummer Robert Mailhouse. The trio reunited earlier in the year and performed at BottleRock Napa Valley music festival back in May.
Dogstar originally had a short-but-spectacular run in the 90s and early 2000s. They captured a lot of international attention, largely due to Reeves’ participation. Starting with the release of their 1996 four-track EP Quattro Formaggi, the trio was able to tour the world because of their success. They nabbed a spot at Glastonbury Festival and opened for David Bowie as well as Bon Jovi. A 2002 show in Japan would be their last, before the band members went their separate ways.
Presently, Dogstar has kicked off the second leg of their 35-plus city headline tour. It includes gigs in St. Louis, Columbus, Niagra, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Brooklyn, Boston, Atlanta, Nashville and elsewhere.
Featuring 12 tracks, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees will be premiered on a global livestream from the band's concert on Tuesday, October 10 at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. You can get tickets to the livestream here.
