English synth-pop star La Roux (real name: Elly Jackson) is back in the spotlight. the GRAMMY-winning producer, songwriter, and performer behind "Bulletproof" and "In For the Kill" has a new album on the horizon. The record will be her fourth studio effort, and follow-up her 2020 LP Supervision.
The new project is called Old Flames and is set to drop this autumn. According to a press release acquired by Live365, the album will see her confront the "collapse of a 17-year relationship, the ache of forbidden love, the loneliness of addiction, and the struggle to reconcile sexuality and identity beneath the glare of public scrutiny." It promises to make sonic and visual references that span everything from David Lynch to Donnie Darko; All Saints and Mariah Carey, alongside Jackson's Jeep and summertime rain.

On her vision for the album, La Roux said: “ This record says things how they are: how I am and who I am. It’s been a process of admitting what I got wrong through telling these tales and coming to terms with where I am now. Old Flames is
essentially me processing why I’ve behaved the way that I have and saying goodbye to it. It’s a farewell to that way of behaving in love and life. And in music too.”
To give fans a preview of what's to come, Jackson has dropped the melancholy beat "Cabin Fever." It's a pop track with a 90's-influenced sound that has La Roux addressing a closed-off lover. "Well, I've got cabin fever / And I can't take it down
It's like I'm falling deeper / And I can't turn it' round," she croons during the song's chorus. The official visualizer has her sitting on a wooden deck, looking out onto a lake with a steely expression.
Speaking on the single, La Roux commented: "‘Cabin Fever’ is about where I was: stuck in my head and lost, having to be brutally honest about it in order to escape."
La Roux's notable return comes on the heels of highly-anticipated dates opening for Hilary Duff on her first tour in decades. She is scheduled to perform as support during various shows, including concerts in Cincinnati on July 28 and New York on August 5, 2026.
La Roux started off as a group project formed in 2008 by singer Elly Jackson and record producer Ben Langmaid. The act's debut self-titled album was a critical and commercial success back in 2009 - ultimately winning a Grammy Award and producing the hit singles "In for the Kill" and "Bulletproof." After Langmaid left the group in 2012, Jackson took the La Roux name for herself and released a second album, Trouble in Paradise, in 2014. Despite a meager commercial reception, the album received glowing reviews from critics. La Roux subsequently parted ways with Polydor Records and released her third album, Supervision, independently in 2020.
Old Flames is set for release on November 6. You can pre-order a copy and pre-save on digital platforms here.
