After turning in a performance for the upcoming Joker sequel and doing another Las Vegas residency, Lady Gaga finally has new pop music for us.
Mother Monster plans to release her long-awaited seventh album in February 2025, preceded by a single next month (October 2024). A note posted to social media Wednesday (September 4) revealed the October release of the first single, before a Vogue profile teased the February release of the LP.

By the time Gaga's new record comes out in February, it will have been almost five years since the release of her previous record, the pandemic-stricken yet critically loved Chromatica. It’s the longest length of time between any of her album releases. Gaga is also working on a separate surprise project, Vogue noted.
Stefani Germanotta remains tight-lipped about the project itself, but told Vogue’s Jonathan Van Meter, “There’s a lot of pain associated with this adventure, and when I start to explore that pain it can bring out another side to my artistry. When I’m here at this studio, I’m relaxed and I am able to face my demons and what’s remarkable is… that’s the music. I’m able to hear it back.” She added that Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, and Kesha have been on her stereo recently.
Additionally, it's been revealed by Vogue that Gaga's fiancé, Michael Polansky, encouraged her to get back into pop music again. “He was like, ‘Babe. I love you. You need to make pop music,’” Gaga said. Polansky replied: “Like anyone would do for the person they love, I encouraged her to lean in to the joy of it,” he told Vogue. “On the Chromatica tour, I saw a fire in her; I wanted to help her keep that alive all the time and just start making music that made her happy.”
Joker: Folie à Deux just premiered at the Venice Film Festival and will have its theatrical release on October 4. Gaga is playing Harley Quinn in the film. Besides her summer Vegas residency, Lady Gaga just finished a stint performing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
