Lil Yachty has surprise-dropped a jazzy new single titled “A Cold Sunday.” The Aris Tatalovich–produced track also comes with a new music video directed by AMD Visuals.
According to Genius, the song samples the 1966 track "Heaven Must Have Sent You" by the Elgins. In "A Cold Sunday," Yachty raps about heartbreak over soulful instrumentals. The music video shows him rapping along to the song through multiple screens simultaneously. "A Cold Sunday" was first teased in full via Yachty’s TikTok on December 13th, 2023 as the third installment of his “Verses Im Proud of” series. Release of the song was then hinted by Yachty 6 hours before it dropped via X (formerly known as Twitter). He also revealed a music video would accompany the song.

“A Cold Sunday” follows Lil Yachty’s recent left-field collaborations with Faye Webster and Chief Keef from earlier this month. Last year, he linked up with Drake for “Another Late Night” and J. Cole on “The Secret Recipe.”
For most of 2023, Lil Yachty stayed busy promoting his unexpected concept album Let’s Start Here – which saw the artist trying out genres like psych-rock and soul. He ended up bringing “The Black Seminole.” and “Drive Me Crazy!” from that LP to the Saturday Night Live stage a few weeks after its release. "A Cold Sunday" is believed to be part of an upcoming sixth studio album by Yachty.
