Canadian musician Mac DeMarco has been hard at work completing his next studio album since the release of his 2023 projects Five Easy Hot Dogs and the 199-track One Wayne G. Now, he's finally told the public the name of the project and its release date.
The album is called Guitar, and was written, recorded, produced, and mixed entirely by himself. (According to Pitchfork, only David Ives was recruited for mastering duties.) Besides sound-related tasks, DeMarco also shot all the record’s music videos and cover art on tripods. To prep fans, DeMarco has dropped the single and visual for his tune "Home." The music video for the tune sees DeMarco canoeing alongside various shorebirds.

“I think Guitar is as close to a true representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper.” DeMarco said in a press statement. “I’m happy to share this music, and look forward to playing these songs as many places as I’m able.”
DeMarco has shared the titles of all twelve tracks on the LP - you can find them below. Guitar is out August 22 via Mac’s Record Label. Pre-orders for the vinyl version of the album are available here.
DeMarco first teased Guitar back in April, casually telling press he had an album on the horizon, but not revealing its name or release date. His last proper guitar-and-vocals studio album was 2019’s Here Comes the Cowboy. Following his previously announced 2025 tour dates, DeMarco will stay on the road through spring 2026, making further stops in Japan, Hong Kong, and across the southern and midwestern United States. You can find tickets for his upcoming shows here.
