Madonna has announced that her upcoming album is named Madame X. She teased the mysterious unknown project on Instagram and Twitter yesterday. Today, she followed up those teasers with confirmation that Madame X is the title of her newest album.
Yesterday, Madonna posted:
"Madame X is a secret agent
Traveling around the world
Changing identities
Fighting for freedom
Bringing light to dark places
She is a cha cha instructor
A professor
A head of state
A housekeeper
An equestrian
A prisoner
A student
A teacher
A nun
A cabaret singer
A saint
A prostitute"
Today, Madonna posted on Instagram and Twitter to reveal that Madame X is in fact the title of her fourteenth studio album. In the video announcing the news, Madonna takes on the persona of Madame X, whom she describes as “a secret agent traveling around the world, changing identity, fighting for freedom, and bringing light to dark places.”
Madonna has been teasing her new project for months. In March, the pop icon tweeted a cryptic photo of a hand cutting an apple with the caption "A taste of things to come."
Madame X will be Madonna’s first full-length LP since the release of her 2015 album Rebel Heart.
While Madame X doesn’t have a release date yet, it’s expected at some point this year.
