Nine Inch Nails Embark on First North American Tour in Three Years

Nine Inch Nails are now beginning the North American leg of their "Peel It Back World Tour." The trek will mark the first time the band has done a live run on the continent in three years.

After completing a run of European dates this summer, the band is launching the new leg today (August 6) at the Oakland Arena in Oakland, California. The arena tour runs through a two-night stand at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on September 18 and 19, with the route also stopping for two-night stands at the United Center in Chicago (August 19 and 20) and at Barclays Center in Brooklyn (September 2 and 3), among other cities.

Consequence reports NIN will be reunited with their old drummer and ex-Foo Fighter Josh Freese on the tour, with the band just announcing Freese’s return to the group after previously being in the lineup from 2005 to 2008. In a trade of sorts, the drummer who Freese is replacing - longtime NIN stickman Ilan Rubin - has become the new drummer of Foo Fighters.

The “Peel It Back World Tour” will see the band performing in a unique two-stage format, including a “B-stage” nestled in the middle of the audience, with handheld cinematography projected onto translucent fabric behind the group. As for the music, the setlists on the European leg were separated into four different “Acts,” and varied in order and selection from night to night. Trent Reznor and company dusted off the occasional rarity or deep cut, such as the first performance of “That’s What I Get” since 1991, while also delivering classics like “Wish,” “Closer,” “Head Like a Hole,” and “Hurt” throughout the run.

Fans can look for deals or get tickets to sold-out dates via StubHub, where orders are 110% guaranteed through StubHub’s FanProtect program. Otherwise, you can find more information about the tour on the band's official website.
