After all the chatter that Nirvana was going to reunite for a performance, Nirvana did, in fact, reunite!

Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and Pat Smear reunited on Oct. 6 to close out Cal Jam 18 at Glen Helen Amphitheater in San Bernardino, CA.

Joan Jett and Deer Tick's John McCauley joined the surviving Nirvana members for a six-song encore. Jett led the vocals for Nirvana's "Breed," "Smells Like Teen Spirit," and "All Apologies." McCauley took over the lead vocals on "Serve the Servants," "Scentless Apprentice," and "In Bloom."

Novoselic said to the crowd, "I just wanna hear a big cheer for somebody. I wanna hear a big cheer for Kurt Cobain.”
