Philadelphia's Made in America Music Festival Canceled for Second Year in a Row

Once again, Philadelphia’s Made in America Festival has been canceled.

Event organizers revealed the news in a statement yesterday, but did not provide a specific reason for the cancellation. Instead, the festival’s production team only said the festival has been scrapped for a second year in a row because it “is reimagining a live music experience."

"Since its inception, this groundbreaking festival has celebrated music and community - from creating a space for fans to connect, to uplifting local small businesses and shining a light on important causes," Made in America's website reads. "It has strived for accessibility, eliminating barriers through affordable tickets and location.

"As purveyors of change, the Made in America production team is reimagining a live music experience that affirms our love and dedication to music and the work we do. We promise an exciting return to the festival."

Last year’s festival was canceled due to “severe circumstances outside of production control,” as Made in America put it at the time. SZA and Lizzo were meant to headline the 2023 event, which was scheduled for September 2-3. The cancelation occurred after Lizzo was hit with a lawsuit from former dancers alleging sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. A 2024 Made In America lineup was never revealed.

Made In America started in 2012 by Jay-Z's company Roc Nation and was held annually on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway except for 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic postponed the festival.
