The Recording Academy has announced that Salt-N-Pepa, Selena, and Talking Heads are among the recipients of the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Other Lifetime Achievement Award recipients include Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, opera singer Marilyn Horne, and late jazz great Lionel Hampton. The 2021 Trustees Awards, which recognize “significant contributions, other than performance, to the field of recording,” will go to producer/songwriter Kenny “Babyface” Edwards, engineer Ed Cherney, and composer/arranger Benny Golson. Jazz drummer Daniel Weiss will be awarded the Technical Grammy.
The honorees will be recognized at the 2021 Grammy Awards on Sunday, Jan. 31. Trevor Noah of The Daily Show is set to host the event. At the time of writing, the Recording Academy has not shared details about the operations of the ceremony given the COVID-19 pandemic.
