Slash has announced the death of his 25-year-old stepdaughter, Lucy-Bleu Knight: the daughter of the Guns N’ Roses guitarist’s current partner, Meegan Hodges. The guitarist has cancelled four upcoming shows to give himself proper time to mourn.
The guitarist revealed her passing with a statement on Instagram:
“Lucy-Bleu Knight (December 6, 1998), beloved daughter of Meegan Hodges and Mark Knight, stepdaughter of Samantha Somers Knight and Slash, sister of Scarlet Knight, stepsister of London and Cash Hudson, passed away peacefully in Los Angeles, CA on July 19, 2024," he wrote. "Lucy-Bleu was an incredibly talented artist, a passionate dreamer, and a charming, lovable, sweet soul. The family asks for privacy at this time and requests that social media speculation be kept to a minimum as they grieve and process this devastating loss.”
No cause of death has been revealed. In the comments section of the post, fans and friends of Slash and his family reached out to express their condolences. Susan Holmes McKagan, wife of Slash’s Guns N’ Roses bandmate Duff McKagan, wrote: “Words cannot express our deepest sympathy and condolences. Love you all so much.”
Additionally, Band member Melissa Reese wrote, "There are no words. Sending absolutely all of my love and hugs and condolences and support to you guys." Violet Grohl, daughter of Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, posted, “My heart hurts for you guys. All the love to your family rn.” Other artists and musicians who paid their respects include Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, actor Jason Momoa, Tyler Bryant, Ben Cote, and more.
Twelve hours before the official news of his stepdaughter's passing, Slash announced the cancellation of four shows on his ongoing S.E.R.P.E.N.T. blues festival tour due to “unforeseen circumstances.” The outing is expected to resume in Toronto on July 28th, with two dates in Ohio, a Michigan gig, and a show in Ontario among the canceled dates.
As for other Guns N' Roses news – while the band has been laying low in 2024 and is not currently touring as a group, they did release a single in 2023 called "The General." It came with an AI-generated music video that shows real concert footage of the band mixed with colorful animation.
