Sufjan Stevens has announced the release of a five-volume album called Convocations. The first volume, titled Meditations, is out April 8. A new song from the volume, "Meditation V," has just been released. The full project is set to drop May 6.
The instrumental LP will be in tribute to Stevens's late father, who died in September 2020 two days after the release of his last album, The Ascension. Each volume from Convocations is meant to reflect a different stage of the mourning process. Following Meditations will be Lamentations, Revelations, Celebrations, and Incantations.
