Fresh off her latest Grammy win, SZA visited Sesame Street to sing “Be Kind to Me, Be Kind to You”: a new song about the importance of generosity and self-love.
The clip starts off with SZA teaching Elmo, Abby Cadabby, and Gabrielle how to make a gratitude jar. "Sometimes when you feel sad or have other really big feelings, it can be easy to forget the things that we're grateful for. So the jar helps us to remember."
The quartet then break out into song, with Elmo, Abby, and Gabrielle harmonizing behind SZA. "Gratitude's the right attitude," the group chants during the track's chorus.
Sesame Street has always welcomed musicians and singers to its stoop for as long as it’s been around. In recent years, Big Bird and the rest of the gang have invited Haim to sing about the alphabet, Mickey Guyton to highlight the importance of community, Anderson .Paak to riff on holidays, Billie Eilish to perform “Happier Than Ever” with Count von Count, Noah Kahan to croon about the importance of music, and Kacey Musgraves to sing about her favorite colors.
Sesame Street is SZA's latest acting gig since her performance in the movie One of Them Days with Keke Palmer. Later this month, SZA heads out on the Grand National Tour with Kendrick Lamar, during which the two will perform live in the United States, Canada, Europe, and the United Kingdom, following their Super Bowl LIX halftime show collaboration. (You can find tickets here.) SZA will also be supporting SOS Deluxe: Lana, the expanded edition of her beloved 2022 album.
