Tame Impala is ringing in the beginning of Spooky Season with a new beat called "Dracula." It's the third single from the psychedelic project's upcoming album Deadbeat, and also comes with a moonlit music video.
This single is another ode to rave culture, combining the energy of "End of Summer" with the melodic psych-pop found in it's follow-up single, "Loser." Though the iconic vampire Dracula is referenced, the track has more groovy “Thriller” vibes instead of a gloomy mood. “Run from the sunlight, Dracula” Kevin Parker sings in the chorus, desperate to stay in the dark so the party can rage on.

“It’s kind of the oldest song from the album process. It’s kind of one of the ones I started first,” Parker told Zane Lowe of “Dracula” on Apple Music 1. “That’s, like, an example of one of the ones that started in this really raw, minimal way, and then just sort of, like, slowly expanded into this sort of, like, pop.”
The music video for "Dracula" was directed by Julian Klincewicz, who also helmed the visual for “End of Summer.” It features several partiers dancing outside of a portable house that is moved via a semi truck; a vehicle that follows Kevin Parker around as he walks in and out of the scenes. Despite having a pep in his step, Parker does not join in on the dancing, and wears a resigned expression on his face. According to Consequence, the visual was partly inspired by the Western Australia rave scene and ‘bush doof culture,’ which served as a significant reference point for Deadbeat.
Deadbeat is out October 17, and will be Tame Impala's fifth studio album. Kevin Parker and his group will celebrate the album’s release with a handful of US tour dates, with new shows recently added in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Oakland. The tour will also make stops in Austin, Chicago, and San Diego. You can find more information about tickets on Tame Imapala's official website.
