Two New Elvis Presley Collections 'Live 1969' & 'American Sound 1969' To Be Released

Two new collections featuring the music Elvis Presley produced in Las Vegas and Memphis in 1969, including both unreleased and released material, will be released this August. The collections are titled Live 1969 and American Sound 1969 and will be available Aug. 9 and Aug. 23, respectively.

Live 1969 marks the 50th anniversary of Elvis’ residency at the International Hotel in Las Vegas. At the time, he was backed by two vocal groups, the Imperials and the Sweet Inspirations, as well as a full orchestra and band later known as the TCB Band.

Live 1969 will be comprised of 11 full sets from Elvis’ residency recorded in late August. Four of the included shows have never been previously released in full, with two completely unheard. The set will be available digitally and as an 11-CD box set. The box set will also include a 52-page booklet featuring rare photos, memorabilia, and an oral history by Ken Sharp comprising historic interviews from Presley, Colonel Tom Parker, Tom Jones, Jerry Schilling, James Burton, Fats Domino, and more.

Comprised of 90 tracks of rare and unreleased material, American Sound 1969 will explore Elvis' American Studio sessions that produced From Elvis in Memphis.

American Sound 1969 will only be available digitally and it can be preordered here. Live 1969 is available to preorder here. Elvis’ Aug. 26, 1969 midnight show will be released separately as a two-LP vinyl set on Aug. 9. A limited edition hot pink and yellow vinyl version of that record will be available via the Graceland store.
