Alternative rock band Wavves have announced a North American summer tour to celebrate the 12th anniversary of their classic album King of the Beach.
Back in 2020, the band was set to tour for the record’s 10th anniversary, but those dates were pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 12th anniversary tour will now begin on July 21 in Ventura, California. They'll make stops in Portland, Denver, Chicago, Toronto, Brooklyn, Atlanta, Austin, Phoenix, and more, before concluding on August 27 in Los Angeles. Smut and BOYO will open for the group.
Although the King of the Beach 10th anniversary tour was postponed, Wavves did get to roll out a 10th anniversary reissue of the album in 2020. A related sad fun fact: Snacks, the cat that appears on the album cover of King of the Beach, died two months ago (February 2022). The photogenic Maine Coon also graced the album cover of Best Coast’s Crazy for You.
We lost a legend today. I hate this app but there are literally thousands of you fans with this cat tattooed on their bodies and they will carry his spirit with them. Legends never die. I love you Snacks. See you on the other side brother 🖤🤝🖤🤝 pic.twitter.com/nlGFCJzo2L— WAVVES (@WAVVES) February 10, 2022
In other Wavves news, their seventh and most recent album, Hideaway, came out last year. It includes the songs "Sinking Feeling," "Help is on the Way," "Hideaway," and "Caviar."
