This summer, starting in July, the Yankee Stadium parking lot will be turned into a weekend attraction, with drive-in movies, concerts, a "brunch series," and more.
The new festival-like experience, Uptown Drive-In, will include drive-in movies and concerts featuring local musicians every night Friday through Sunday as well as a “brunch series” on Saturday and Sunday. Each day, there will also be carside dinner service, interactive games, raffles, and giveaways.
Attendees will be expected to remain in their vehicles and the stage will be elevated to be seen from attendees’ cars. Audio will be available through car radios.
MASC Hospitality Group was originally working on their Bronx Night Market, the Bronx Beer Festival, and Uptown Epicure Festival events, but have now shifted their focus to the Uptown Drive-In experience given the cancellation of their other events due to COVID-19.
Ticket prices are still to be determined, as MASC’s Marco Shalma told Time Out New York, “We’re working with city and state officials, and some of our sponsors to reduce cost as much as we can to be able to make this very affordable, and for as many New Yorkers as possible.” Tickets will be all-inclusive and available online on a first-come, first-serve basis.
