A scripted anthology series (or “arc-thology”) based on Billy Joel's extensive catalog of music is currently being developed by MGM and Universal Music Publishing Group.
Entitled Scenes From an Italian Restaurant after Joel’s 1977 track of the same name, the show will utilize the storylines and characters in the songwriter's famous lyrics. Some characters will include the Stranger, the Piano Man, Mamma Leone, and Sgt. O’Leary. Joel and his team have reimagined and rearranged the songs for the series.
Kevin Fox is creating and executive-producing the show alongside Joel and his longtime producing partner Steve Cohen, and the series will be shopped to various networks.
