Nile Rodgers, Philip Selway & More to Be Featured in New Book 'Touring and Mental Health: The Music Industry Manual'

In recent years, more of a priority has been placed on the mental health and wellbeing of musicians – especially musicians who tour. Now, there's a new mental health manual for artists and crew that will be coming in March.

Touring and Mental Health: The Music Industry Manual, an in-depth guide edited by London-based psychotherapist and former event booker Tamsin Embleton, will be released on March 23. The 600-plus-page book collects insights from therapists, artists, performance coaches, psychologists, and other specialized health and wellness experts. Nile Rodgers, Radiohead’s Philip Selway, and Four Tet’s Kieran Hebden are among those interviewed in the book.

A description of the book online says, "This comprehensive mental health and touring guide for musicians will help artists, tour managers, production managers, crew, and artist teams to identify and cope with the various psychological difficulties that can occur during or as a result of touring. Written by psychotherapists, performance coaches, vocal coaches, dieticians, psychologists, and sleep, sexual health, and addiction experts, this timely and important book provides practical guidance, resources, psycho-education, diagrams, illustrations, and vignettes from musicians and prominent touring personnel."

In addition to her work as a therapist and writer, Embleton co-founded the Music Industry Therapist Collective (MITC). She was inspired to start pursuing psychotherapy from her own experience working in the music industry.

You can pre-order Touring and Mental Health: The Music Industry Manual here. Those who sign up to the MITC newsletter before the book's publication date will receive a discount code on their pre-order.
