Center Stage on Live365: Wild Country Radio

Center Stage on Live365 this week is Wild Country Radio, with classic country hits of the 80s and 90s and new country in the mix. We spoke with station manager Steve Reich about their history with radio, their station's programming, and we got some music recommendations. Check out the interview below!

What made you get started in radio?

I love being able to provide the listening audience a choice and outlet to experience a new way to listen to music.

What brought you to Live365?

I'm a former broadcaster of the old Live365.

What's your favorite part about running your own radio station?

The ability to program my station on the fly without restrictions of format and playlist, unlike a lot of major broadcast stations that are restricted by several things. I love being able to create the best playlist for my listeners.

Tell us about your station's programming. What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?

They can expect to hear country hits that the big FM stations have forgotten or will no longer play. Our country mix includes classic country hits of the 80s and 90s and new country.

Name one artist that you play on your station that is underrated in your opinion.

Kacey Musgraves, she has a great voice but is sometimes not given the opportunities to reach her full potential.

What's your favorite music memory/moment?

Watching Alan Jackson perform "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" on the CMA Awards after 9/11. It was an emotional moment to hear that song in country music and around the world.

Please list your top 5 or 10 songs, with a brief reason why the songs made your list.

  1. "That's My Job" - Conway Twitty
This song made my number 1 spot because it talks about a son and father's relationship overtime, about how it is the father's job to take care of his kids. When the song is in the last verse, it talks about how the father dies and the kid is thankful, and the roles reverse and the kid sings the exact same chorus as his father.

  2. "Beautiful Crazy" - Luke Combs
Luke made this song for his wife before she even knew he existed. Luke has been a phenomenal artist these past couple years, almost every song he releases ends up charting.

  3. "Remember When" - Alan Jackson
This song is from one of the most successful country music artists of all time. It talks about a husband and wife and when the kids leave home, they remember the times they had when they were young. It's a reminder to not forget those moments because time goes by way too fast.

  4. "Mama Tried" - Merle Haggard
This song was written to try and tell a true story about how his mother always tried to keep him out of trouble yet he always ended up in trouble. This song is notably a very popular song in country music.

  5. "The Good Ones" - Gabby Barrett
Gabby is saying that her boyfriend that she has now is one of "The Good Ones" or also known as the ones who will be with you for life through your ups and downs. She is thankful for him and knows that there aren't many out there, yet she got ahold of one.
