Eric Church recently announced that he has a triple album coming this April.
Entitled Heart & Soul, the three-album series was recorded in just 28 days and features three parts: Heart, &, and Soul. Each album consists of eight songs, making for a 24-song collection. Church recorded the project with his producer Jay Joyce and backing vocalist Joanna Cotten while in the mountains of North Carolina.
"The interesting thing about this process is that Jay kept asking me the last three or four days, 'Are we done?' And at that time I didn’t know what the project was," Church said in a statement. "I kept saying 'God, this is going to be really hard. There’s a lot here. Is this a double album? And if it’s a double album, how do we leave out these five or six songs?' I am the hardest critic on making sure every song deserves to be on the record, and I beat this thing to death going, 'This can’t be that good.' But, it was just a special, special time and a special, special project that I think will be among our best."
The first and last albums, Heart and Soul, will be released on Apr. 16 and Apr. 23, respectively. &, the middle album, will only be available to the Church Choir fan club as a vinyl record and will be released on Apr. 20. Fan club members will also have access to exclusive white vinyl versions of the first and last LPs in the series.
Fan club pre-orders begin Jan. 28 and general public pre-orders start the following day, Jan. 29.
