Live365's "Featured Spotlight Station" this week is Universal Hip Hop Radio! We spoke with Rocky Bucano about the station's setup, what listeners can expect to hear, and the station's favorite songs. Check out the interview below!
What brought you to Live365?
The Universal Hip Hop Museum needed a global music streaming platform that had the backend capability to help us launch the museum's radio station. We needed a service that offered a global service with strong song administration management.
What's your studio like?
We produce our content on Pro Tools with the Machine, Numark Turntables, and mixers with Final Scratch.
What can listeners expect when they tune in to your station?
Listeners can always expect the best authentic Hip Hop in the world curated by the arbiters of the culture!
Also, beginning on April 15, in honor of the Universal Hip Hop Museum's one year anniversary on the Live365 platform, the museum will be rolling out new segmented programs derived from famous songs in Hip Hop culture!
What has been your favorite moment as a DJ/Station Manager so far?
It has been awesome to watch the station grow from just being heard in the U.S. to now being enjoyed in more than 90 countries!
What is the best concert you've ever attended, and why?
It's hard to say, but the first Fresh Fest in 1984 with the FatBoys and Run DMC was probably the best. Hip Hop was still underground at that time, and to see how Hip Hop was then compared to how it is selling out arenas now is simply amazing!
What artist (dead or alive) would you love to see live, but haven't had the chance to see?
James Brown, the Godfather of Soul and Hip Hop's #1 influencer!
We asked for some of the station's favorite songs. Here's what they had to say!
- Eric B. & Rakim - Eric B. is President
- Boogie Down Productions - South Bronx
- Public Enemy - Public Enemy No. 1
- Snoop Dogg - Gin and Juice
- Too $hort - Blow The Whistle
