J. Cole Shares 'Heaven's EP' Music Video

Rap star J. Cole has surprise dropped a new song and music video called "Heaven's EP." The track is built from the beat of the song "Pipe Down" from Drake's Certified Lover Boy.

In the song, Cole addresses his purpose in life, parenting, and basketball dreams that never came to fruition. “Like the second time I got cut from the junior varsity/Fightin' back tears, I promised to switch gears/And said to myself 'Whatever you do, you won't do it partially,'" he raps. The lyrics refer to his time as a star player on both the Sanford High School and St. John's College basketball teams. Cole would drop out of the latter to pursue music.

“Heaven’s EP” is accompanied with a Simon Chasalow-directed visual, which follows Cole on a luxurious trip across Las Vegas.

As for other J. Cole news, the rapper's latest album The Off-Season blasted to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in May of this year. It is his sixth studio album to do so, giving him a perfect six-for-six record. In the same month, Cole made his professional debut with the Basketball Africa League. He netted three points, three rebounds, and two assists in his first game for the Rwandan Patriots.

J. Cole also has a tour coming up in support of The Off-Season. It kicks off this Friday (September 24) at FTX Arena in Miami, Florida, and runs through mid-November. Tickets and dates can be found here.
