Katy Perry Previews Las Vegas Residency on 'Good Morning America'

On Wednesday morning (December 29), ahead of the show's debut, Katy Perry gave the Good Morning America crew a backstage tour of her new Las Vegas residency. Titled Katy Perry: Play, the 95-minute show is currently running until March at The Theatre at Resorts World.

During her appearance, Perry also shared the show's 19-song setlist. It includes “ET,” “Chained to the Rhythm,” "Dark Horse," “California Gurls,” “Hot N’ Cold/Last Friday Night,” “Waking Up in Vegas,” “Daisies,” “I Kissed a Girl,” “Never Really Over,” “Teenage Dream,” and “Firework,” among others.

Perry's theme for the show? Complementing her unique style, everything is larger than life.

“A lot of my shows have been figuratively larger than life, but I play a doll in this show, so everything is, like, three times the size of me,” the singer said, comparing the show to a mashup of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Pee-Wee’s Playhouse.

Among the oversized props that appear in "PERRY PLAYLAND" are giant plungers, oversized mushrooms, dancing toothbrushes and tubes of toothpaste, a two-story bathtub, a titanic anthropomorphic toilet, and a Vegas-sized rocking horse. There is even a “trash dress” covered in sequins and a hydraulic checkerboard stage that lifts an enormous snail into view.

"It’s always a race to the finish line when you’re launching something this massive,” Perry told GMA about Wednesday’s kickoff of the 16-show run. Perry's Las Vegas showed opened yesterday (December 29), and will not play again until tomorrow, December 31. There will also be a show the next day, January 1.

In other Katy Perry news, the singer has a new collab with Alesso called "When I’m Gone." It was released yesterday afternoon.
