After teasing the project all the way back in September 2021, R&B singer/songwriter Kehlani has finally unveiled a release date for her third studio album, Blue Water Road.
Due out April 29 via TSNMI/Atlantic Records, the album was executive produced by Pop Wansel of production duo Pop & Oak. Blue Water Road will feature Kehlani's last two singles, “Altar” and “Little Story,” as a part of what they call their various artistic journeys on this new project.
“Blue Water Road is a destination in my mind,” Kehlani said of their upcoming album in a statement. “I’m giving everyone access. It’s an emotional journey, a sexual journey, and a spiritual journey. To me, the album is like a glass house. It’s light, transparent, and the sun is shining right through it.”
Kehlani’s last album, It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, was released in May 2020. The project peaked at No. 2 on both the Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
In addition to a release date, Kehlani also unveiled the new album's artwork. The photograph - showing Kehlani on a beautiful beach - was taken by Brianna Alysse. Blue Water Road is available for pre-order here.
