Immediately after the 2019 Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday night, Kelly Clarkson got a direct flight home to have her appendix removed a few hours after the event. Clarkson revealed yesterday that she had been dealing with appendicitis pain all week, but in her words, "the show must go on."
Despite her pain, Clarkson hosted the BBMAs without a single misstep, opened the night with a medley of the year's biggest hits, and even performed her new song, "Broken & Beautiful."
News of Clarkson's appendicitis broke yesterday and she confirmed the news in a tweet, writing, "Not gonna lie.... I may or may not have broken down in tears after the show from pain."
Clarkson successfully underwent appendix surgery and is "feeling awesome now."
