Kesha Announces Next Album & Drops New Song Featuring T-Pain

Kesha has announced her sixth studio album - and her first for her new label, Kesha Records.

The album is titled . (pronounced “Period”), and it is out July 4. (Which makes sense, as in America, July 4 is independence day and Period will be Kesha's first record as an independent artist.) The follow-up to 2023’s Gag Order will include the recent singles “Joyride” and “Delusional.” There will be eleven tracks on the album in total.

To go along with the LP announcement, Kesha has dropped a new song called “Yippee-Ki-Yay.” One version of the new track features T-Pain, however the album version does not. The artist released both renditions yesterday (March 27), and the track was produced by Pink Slip and NOVA WAV. The boisterous tune features a fun stomp-clap beat, some country twang, and a previously wounded Kesha looking to hit the town and blow off steam.

According to Billboard, the singer teased "Yippee-Ki-Yay" for a week, posting cryptic videos in which the upcoming LP’s signature oversized pink period icon is splashed over her face and body. The album was conceived, co-produced and co-written by Kesha. According to a press release, it, “transcends pop norms to create a raw, daring, and intensely personal sonic journey, a defiant act of self-expression that refuses to adhere to expectations or play it safe.”

Kesha Records is an independent label that has global distribution through ADA. It gives the singer full creative control and ownership of her work after she settled a long-running defamation suit filed by her former label boss, producer Dr. Luke, in 2023. Kesha filed suit against Luke (born Lukasz Gottwald) over allegations of sexual, physical and emotional abuse in 2014, claims he repeatedly denied.
