Kylie Minogue Announces Sixteenth Studio Album 'Tension'

Kylie Minogue has announced a new album: Tension. It’s the follow-up to her 2020 record Disco, and will be out September 22 via BMG.

The Australian superstar worked on Tension with longtime collaborator Richard “Biff” Stannard and Disco contributor Duck Blackwell. A full tracklist and album artwork has been released. The LP opens with “Padam Padam,” which is set to be released as a single soon.

“I started this album with an open mind and a blank page,” Minogue remarked in a press release. “Unlike my last two albums there wasn’t a ‘theme,’ it was about finding the heart or the fun or the fantasy of that moment and always trying to service the song. I wanted to celebrate each song’s individuality and to dive into that freedom. I would say it’s a blend of personal reflection, club abandon and melancholic high.”

The subject matter reportedly centres on her split from boyfriend of five years, Paul Solomons, with sources telling MailOnline: “Kylie has partnered with the producer Sky Adams to produce emotional dance music for her next record and will detail the breakdown of some of her past relationships with the record…The pair have spent weeks writing new songs for her album and have found a single which addresses the need for people to communicate clearly in a relationship.”

In other Kylie Minogue news, she teamed up with Jessie Ware for the song “Kiss of Life” in 2021, and in 2022, her hit song “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” was remixed by Peggy Gou. You can pre-save Tension here.
