A24's Talking Heads tribute album Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense finally arrived (May 17)! After Paramore's "Burning Down the House" cover, Lorde's "Take Me to the River" rendition, The National's version of "Heaven," and girl in red's remake of "Girlfriend Is Better," Miley Cyrus is now making headlines with her contribution: "Psycho Killer."
Cyrus' cover of the beloved track appears first on the tribute album. It sounds vastly different from the original tune, as Miley's version utilizes dance-worthy pop instrumentation. She also sprinkles in new lyrics here and there, even singing "I love you, psycho killer / Gonna love you forever," during the chorus.
Earlier this year, footage of Cyrus singing “Psycho Killer” at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont spread online. Fans flocked to the video not long after the singer won the 2024 Grammy Awards for Best Pop Solo Performance and Record of the Year for Endless Summer Vacation’s “Flowers.” Cyrus had previously performed alongside Talking Heads’ David Byrne during her 2022 New Year's Eve special.
Besides Miley Cyrus' Talking Heads tribute song and the covers mentioned above, other tracks on A24's new album include Kevin Abstract's “Once in a Lifetime,” Teezo Touchdown's “Making Flippy Floppy,”Blondshell's “Thank You For Sending Me an Angel,” The Linda Lindas' “Found a Job,” and the BADBADNOTGOOD and Norah Jones team-up “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody).”
